General Information

Department of Art History was established in the 2019-2020 academic year within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. There are three departments available in our department:

• Department of Western and Contemporary Art History
• Department of General Art History
• Department Of Turkish-İslamic Arts

The aim of the Department of Art History is to educate art historians who produce universal knowledge, respect the traditional culture and values in the scientific field, open to innovations, and follow and adopt developments in the world.

In our country, the field of art history research is quite a lot. For this reason, the need for graduates in the field of art history increases with the constantly developed culture and art policies. The need for qualified staff who can contribute to the art policies of the country will enable this program to achieve its goals.

It is anticipated that the need for specialists will increase in order to work in the excavation areas, which are kept open for 12 months, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In response to this demand, it is also important to train individuals who are experts in their fields.

Working places

Students who have successfully graduated from Art History Department of the Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University receive the title of Art Historian with a Bachelor's Degree.

Graduates can find employment opportunities in museums affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in the protection committees of Cultural and Natural Heritage and in the General Directorate of Foundations. Moreover, they also work public institutions, such as; municipalities, General Directorate of Highways and KUDEBs within the Special Provincial Administration. At the same time, they can find the opportunity to work as teacher by taking formation training. They can work as guide in tourism sector.
